About the exam
The Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (DELTA) is an advanced qualification for experienced English language teachers. Awarded by Cambridge, DELTA is internationally recognized and designed for professionals who wish to deepen their knowledge of English language teaching and develop their professional practice.

Key Requirements & Prerequisites

Experience: At least one year of full-time (or equivalent, 1,200 hours) English language teaching experience (e.g., adults/children, varied levels) within the last 5 years.

Language Proficiency: A high level of proficiency (minimum high C1, ideally C2 on the CEFR).

Initial Qualification: An initial teaching qualification, such as CELTA, is generally expected, though some centers may accept evidence of equivalent experience.

Educational Background: A standard of education that would allow entrance to higher education in their country.

Exam Organization
- Two written Tests (Parts 1 and 2)
- Exam Length: 1h 30min each part.

Paper-based format: 6–8 weeks after the exam.
The exact date is stated in the COE (Confirmation of Entry), which is sent to each candidate approximately one week before the exam date.
